What Buyer-First Means in Practice
These are not aspirations. They are specific, verifiable behaviours that we commit to maintaining as CarLook grows.
No Paid Placement in Scores
VerifiedDealers cannot pay to improve their CarLook Score. Every score is computed solely from DVLA data, MOT history, mileage trends, and AI analysis. Money never influences the number you see.
Transparent Scoring Methodology
OpenThe four factors that make up every CarLook Score — MOT Health, Mileage Consistency, Tax & SORN Status, and Age Factor — are fully documented on our How It Works page. No black box.
See how scoring worksWe Never Sell Your Search Data
PrivateYour VRM lookups, AI car searches, and listing checks are never shared with dealers, data brokers, or advertisers. We use aggregated, anonymised data only to improve CarLook's AI models.
We Tell You What We Don't Know
HonestWhen our data is incomplete — a vehicle with no MOT history, a plate we can't verify, or an AI analysis with low confidence — we say so clearly. We will never dress up uncertainty as certainty.
Built for Buyers, Not Dealers
IndependentCarLook has no dealer subscription that unlocks preferential treatment for listings. Dealers can list cars, but their listings are scored and ranked by the same objective criteria as every other car.
No Dark Patterns or Hidden Fees
FairOur free tier is genuinely free. Paid features are clearly labelled before you click. There are no auto-renewing trials, no pre-ticked upsells, and no fees buried in small print.
No Fake Reviews or Manufactured Social Proof
RealWe will not display testimonials we cannot verify, inflate user counts, or fabricate trust signals. If we don't have enough real reviews yet, we say so rather than invent them.
We Respond to Disputes
AccountableIf you believe a CarLook Score is wrong — because of a data error, a misidentified vehicle, or an AI mistake — you can contact us and we will investigate and correct it. Scores are not final.
How We Stay Accountable
These commitments are not just words on a page. We aim to publish periodic transparency updates covering: how many scores were disputed and corrected, what data sources we use and their known limitations, and any changes to our scoring methodology. Our goal is to be one of the most transparent vehicle intelligence platforms in the UK.
If you believe we have broken any of these commitments — whether a score looks wrong, a fee was unclear, or your data was handled incorrectly — please contact us directly. We take every report seriously.
CarLook AI is a live platform that is actively developed. Some features are still being refined and additional data sources are being integrated over time. We will always be clear about what is live, what is in beta, and what is coming soon.
